Category: Supreme Deity · Origin: Universal across monotheistic and many polytheistic traditions
God, in monotheistic conception, is the supreme creator and sustainer of all existence, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent. Different traditions understand God differently: personal vs. impersonal, transcendent vs. immanent, judging vs. loving. In esoteric and mystical traditions, God represents ultimate reality, the ground of being, or consciousness itself.
